TOKYO — When searching for a promotion and a better pay, experts recommend that—instead of applying for expensive Executive MBAs, taking dreadful GMAT or GRE exams, writing essays and spending unholy amount of hours reading pointless material trying to impress your superiors—it is more optimal to just befriend someone in power and propel your way to your dream job. “If you really want that job, you better choose a higher-up and start a strategic friendship” said Robert Auburn, Analyst at WorkStudio, a strategic consultancy agency based in London. “We have observed cases where employees with no credentials, no credible experience and no real skills reached high, absurdly well-paid jobs; all based on being buddies with some executive”, he added.
